What is this?
This is a place for you to host mp3s of your original work to make them available for download by others.

Hey "dood", can I upload this cool Eminem MP3 so my friend Charlie can download it?
If you're Eminem and you've decided to make your work available to the public free of charge then yes. Otherwise, I'm afraid, the answer is a resounding "no". We can't and don't host any copyrighted material unless we have specific permission from the copyright holder, and we actively look for and delete any copyrighted material uploaded. If you've spotted something you don't think should be here, click here to contact us and we'll remove it as soon as we can.

Can I use Tindeck for background music on my website?
My word, no! Any and all streaming, which includes background music, is specifically forbidden and now technically impossible thanks to some server-side limits we've introduced. It's sad that we've had to do it, but the sheer amount of abuse from Xanga / MySpace retards was making us physically sick and this seemed the easiest way to stop them.

What's all this about creative commons?
All the work uploaded to this site comes under a creative commons license which gives downloaders permission to copy, distribute, display, perform, and make derivatives of the work, as long as they give the original author credit, don't use it or any derivative works for commercial purposes, and distribute any derivative works under the same license. Basically, it means that people can listen to and change whatever you upload as long as they always give you credit and don't profit from it.

20mb isn't enough space, can I have more?
No, but if you have a special request, feel free to contact us and we'll consider hosting your file regardless of the size.

I get a "not found" error when I try and download something I've uploaded!
Check to make sure the filename of the mp3 you uploaded doesn't have any wacky characters in it. Always refrain from using non-alphanumeric characters in filenames (with the exception of separators like - or _) to make sure your file is accessible by everyone.

Can I delete something I've uploaded?
It isn't generally necessary to delete files, but if you have a legitimate reason for wanting the file to be deleted and can prove you uploaded it or are the copyright holder then contact us and make a request. We'll get to it as soon as we can.
